Lorelei Relapse, Bone Marrow Donors Needed for Little Girl

We have heart wrenching news. Lorelei has relapsed. She is going to need a bone marrow donor. Her blood type is O+. If you are an O+ also and would like to be tested to see if you match please contact me. Ross said he will pay for the test if need be. I will try to find out what is necessary to get tested. The plan is; once a match is found, the doctors will give Lorelei a really big dose of chemo to clean out her system and then they will do the transplant. Her counts are going down as we speak. I am not sure how long she can go with out the transplant. She will go in for a pic line on Thursday and bone marrow aspiration and spinal tap on Monday. PLEASE forward this to everyone you know. She is at home right now and does not look sick. She is getting tired a little more often. She is a happy little girl, she is fearless! She loves to climb and play and loves to go.....I am attaching a picture we took this morning. I am also including a link to a very informative web sight about donating bone marrow. FAQs about Joining the Registry - as a bone marrow donor.

For Immediate Release: James Hylton to Make 700th Career Start!

James Hylton to make 700th career start at Pocono ARCA 200

June 1, 2009 (MEMPHIS, TN) - The 2.5 mile triangular Pocono Speedway, nestled in the heart of the scenic Pocono Mountains, has long been one of James Harvey Hylton’s favorite tracks. On June 6th, Hylton will return to Pocono Speedway to record his 700th major sanctioning body career start in the Pocono ARCA 200.

Hylton’s storied career includes starts in NASCAR Sprint
Cup (601), ARCA RE/MAX (82), NASCAR Grand National East (6), NASCAR Nationwide (3), USAC Stock Car (3), NASCAR Grand American (3), and IMSA Sports Car (1). Hylton has competed on tracks that range from New York’s historic 2/10 mile Islip Speedway to the 2.667 mile high-banked tri-oval at Talladega, AL. “Throughout my career, I’ve raced on every surface imaginable,” stated the Inman, SC Hylton, “in the sixties, we would run a 1/3 mile dirt track one day and then turn around and run a high-banked paved oval the next”.

There is a three-way tie for the track with the most career starts by Hylton between Daytona International Speedway, Rockingham Speedway, and Darlington Speedway, each with 38 starts. Hylton has also recorded three starts on the 3.56 mile road course at Daytona International Speedway. There are 16 tracks on which Hylton has made 25 or more starts. These include such tradition rich tracks as Riverside International Raceway, Nashville’s Fairgrounds Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway. When considering tracks with 10 or more starts, Hylton’s best track performance-wise is the ½ mile Columbia Speedway, with an average finishing position of 4.5. Maryville, TN’s Smokey Mountain Raceway runs a close second with Hylton posting an average finish of 4.8.

James Hylton made his first NASCAR Grand National start at the Old Dominion 400 at Manassas, VA on July 8, 1964. Hylton finished 19th in a 1964 Ford Galaxie and collected $100 for his efforts. “Ned Jarrett let me drive a few races in 1964 in a Bondy Long car. At the road course in Bridgehampton, New York, I was only supposed to run a few laps, then bring the car into the garage. Ned knew how badly I wanted to race, so, he put a lock on the gas cap to make sure I didn’t get excited and run the whole race!” It was clear Hylton had developed a taste for speed and soon found he had the abilities of a contender. Since then, Hylton has recorded 3 wins, 147 Top-Fives, 309 Top-Tens in competition, and a month ago recorded a 15th place finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series event at Talladega.

During his career, Hylton has competed against a veritable “who’s who” of stock car drivers. When asked who were among his toughest competitors, Hylton lists legends such as the Allisons, David Pearson, Richard Petty, Curtis Turner, Fireball Roberts, and singles out Cale Yarbrough. “When you tried to keep up with Cale at places like Darlington or Bristol, you pretty much had your hands full”, Hylton remarks. Hylton’s career has not been limited to only full body stock cars, as he has competed in four sports car races including a win in the 1970 Citrus 250. “The Citrus 250 was a NASCAR Grand American race held on the road course at Daytona,” detailed Hylton, “I won it in a 1969 Camaro owned by Barry Divers and I used the skills I learned as a teenager running through the backwoods roads of rural Virginia”.

In 1976, Hylton teamed up with NASCAR rival Richard Childress for the IMSA 24 Hours of Daytona. Hylton and Childress drove a specially modified 1976 Chevrolet Laguna S-3 to a second place finish in class and a 19th place overall finish in the 73 car field. “That was a lot of fun,” stated Hylton, “We held our own against the Porsche and BMW teams with that big old car. At one point we even had the car in 9th place but at 3:00 am, we lost our transmission”.

Hylton has witnessed many changes occur in the sport of automobile racing throughout his 700 races. “When I first started, it was still your basic Saturday night type of racing,” stated Hylton, “over the years it has grown into a full-fledged professional sport.” When it comes to the race cars themselves, Hylton has seen many technological and mechanical changes as well. “The big block hemi motors we ran back in the sixties had so much torque that you could almost break your neck when you accelerated,” said Hylton, “but today’s cars handle much better with the advances in tire and suspension technology”.

Over the course of his career, Hylton has established a new standard for longevity in the sporting world. “I grew up working hard seven days a week on the farm and I’ve carried that philosophy with me into my racing endeavors.” said Hylton, “ If anyone asked me for my secret to life-long endurance, I’d tell them to eat healthy, leave cigarettes alone, and drink plenty of milk.”

The New Music Media

In light of a recent post on giving away ideas, this one is by far the most interesting concept God has given me to date. The music industry is all about money, right? Of course. This doesn't get difficult until someone genuinely wants to share Christ with the world, and could care less about the business side of the deal.

During the course of the last couple years, I've been moved by so many musicians. The gift they have is KNOWN by the people surrounding them. I believe its time for the world to see them. However, I want nothing to do with the current music industry. So, I set up this thing called the KNOWN tour - a collection of musicians, songwriters and technologists all on the same page - we love music, deplore the industry. Concerts are in open forums (parks and the like) media is produced live with mobile technology and each person is sponsored by a business, all kinds - local, regional or national. For instance: artists able to travel nationally will have a national business. The business brands along side us, and the musician is to hired on as a staff member, building the company internal "brand ambassador team". Everyone gets paid, benefits, and all the perks of working with a company - only doing what they love and what will bring the company recognition. It's absolutely brilliant. God is so smart.

Purpose Media International (PMI) is the non-profit doing all of the pairing up (musicians with the businesses). Also they're creating all the partnerships with local coffee shops, parks, colleges and outside ARCA & NASACAR for the national tours. PMI is also partnering with several distribution channels (web, radio, TV, print) that will serve the live-streaming & post produced content and live-music tapings to the world - eliminating the need for a "label" - sorry guys.

So, if you're a musician business or entrepreneur with a heart for music, just not the industry - join webpress media's cause and help spread the message.

How to Stimulate the Economy

Live Onsite Interviews: Save Time = Save Money = Stimulate Economy
Now, what will work is this (here's another idea for someone): Live on-site interviewing using ustream.tv, sent to client companies the recruiter sees as a fit. It will save time, energy and get past the worthless stages of the hiring process: "job post-wait- job reply wait- send resume -wait some more - phone interview - wait even more - set up a face to face - wait forever - 1st face to face.

People are "judged" on their physical reactions the questions, rarely do the words have anything to do with it...it's body language, eye contact, etc. Now, very experienced phone interviewers can pick up these traits by using highly trained "listeners".. from the creak in the chair to the hesitation in the answer to a question.

That's an interview "dialogue". There are solutions - now, today that helps everyone get paid quicker and the answer to stimulating the economy. The downturn will turn up by simplifying the interview/hiring process!!

This is especially true for any baby-boomer interested in easily entering the new media mecca. The web needs their perspective, wisdom and guidance when it comes to anything but marketing, personal branding, advertising.

The Ability to Encourage

Someone encouraged a writer today. The result is this post.

"If you have the ability to see the good in people, you have a gift and we need more of you. The next step is telling them, or perhaps others around a situation that includes someone having made mistakes. I've been pushed out of many conversations by shifting the responsibility away from the person and back to the action. Right or wrong, we, as people are made to mess up. In hard times, will you be able to depend on your employer, sponsor, family, friends, etc. to support you when it happens? Say that you don't mess up, say you decide to embark on a new adventure? Or a career diversion? Or Downsize --AHH RUN!!! Downsize? "Who does that unless they're struggling?" they smirk. What happened to you being you and doing what you want, when you want and those around you supporting the effort? Especially your employer. The one that could save the other people surrounded by you a lot of heartache. Follow me, I'm going somewhere.

People change, drastically - most times. A Divorce, A Child, A Death, A Natural Disaster -- these life events move people to re-evaluate their life and the importance of their use of time - in our culture and mechanical model of business, these are "catastrophe's". No, they're not. They're a normal part of life in most cases.

Let's say that a companies inability to move and change with a persons growth contributes to divorce rates? We know it does. Money is the #1 reason people divorce. Look further, why? Uncertainty, doubt, fear, insecurity. These feelings contribute to the demise of an individual. Once this takes place (unless the marriage is fundamentally build on true love and sacrifice) one part of the unit begins to decompose, relying on the energy from the other to support its steady decline. The other gets drained, too and unable to fight off the feelings - they both begin to seek other forms of temporal satisfaction. Why do you think the entertainment industry flourishes in crisis? It's not bad or good, but it happens.

The answer? Many things, a sound foundation, seated in the Truth of Jesus Christ (my Rock) and being surrounded by an environment of people committed to helping one another grow personally and professionally. The two are synonymous. There is no such thing as "my professional life"... why separate? Who started that?

I think I'll go work at a bar. I don't drink and would rather read a book than go out.... but those people are suffering, they'll pay be big tips because of my looks and I can be a light to them and the people working there - maybe that's my place? I don't really fit in anywhere else in corporate america - they just use me and when I buck the system, it doesn't suit their fancy. A bar is about as organic as you can get, meeting people in their lowest state - knowing they have potential to be so much more - all kinds, all types and what a great place to understand people....they talk and are honest when they have a few. .. I think I'm liking this idea more and more.

I mean, if we embraced the ugly reality of pain, and encouraged people through it - instead of flicking them away, we could begin to see some significant progress in society. But, it takes someone actually doing it, instead of writing about it to make it happen. "

Brilliant Mastermind Scams a Plenty

Lessons from the 20/20 vision post.

Thought: "now, that's weird, but overlooked it because.....yada, yada....then I got scammed"

WebPress understands there is one very busy detective:
A "driver agent" has nearly ruined the ability of five race teams to enter NASCAR this 2009 season, by promising sponsorship dollars. In 60 days, he cost race teams at least 100K in building cars, the dreams of some young racers and 5 "employees" a month's worth of salaries ranging from 60-83K. He also got 6-10 (and perhaps more) women's personal information and social security numbers promising them PR and Branding jobs in the sport and a free ride to the Superbowl... to create viability he put them in contact with the race teams and racers.

Most interestingly, this guy scammed about 30 people all at the same time, alone. They all believed the same lie....yet EVERYONE felt stupid, ashamed, angry, revengeful and untrusting of everyone, within the circle, after the fact. Yet, there were too many people connected through Facebook, text messages and relationships created. They all got together and now a detective has quite the job on his hands. You call it, internet fraud identity theft or one sick-puppy?

EVERYONE experienced the same emotions. Some are still dealing with certain stages of it, perhaps limiting their ability to move forward with new opportunities. First of all, this dude needs to be caught and put in a straight-jacket, secondly Webpress would like to help anyone out there about to get involved in this kind of scam see the light.

We know that there are some huge internet fraud scams going on, whether its this guy or someone else, here's some tips to make rules of engagement:

1. Avoid all one-liner craigslist job openings including sports marketing and travel
2. Do not make excuses for your gut instinct when reading someone's eyes in a picture
3. Make an attempt to meet the person or video chat, if they evade you consistently, try to ditch them - if they get angry, cut ties.
4. Sign contracts over gTalk or a video platform, watch the fax/scan go through
5. Don't think you're nuts when something goes wrong.
6. Don't hide in shame because someone conned you...get it out- tell someone - it's likely they have the same story.
7. Listen to your instincts regardless of the cost.
8. Share information with others outside the middle man.
9. Keep your contacts close.
10. Don't fall for the guilt trips.

This kind of fraud exists, it's real. These people use their talents for good or bad, we'd like to know your experience with one or the other.

Flashing: They Made Me Do It

A WebPress Feature Special: Confessions of the Queen Brandie

I have a confession. Social Median made me into a flasher. Others have always tried to get me to do it, but I never did. Now, they have my trust, they are the only platform who will ever get my flashes. Now, we will flash brands for our talent to the world, using a web-media platform introducing a cast of up & coming sports stars- who care about others....just 'cause we can.

Change Campaigns work because things change. Brands, on the other hand, live or die by the need from the media/community at that particular time. I am no Obama fan, but he has given the people what they want, access to him.

Admittedly, I never looked at Scobelizer's site until today. He was just a guy on Twitter that everyone wanted to follow and was always touted so much that I rebelled against even going to his site. I didn't even have the desire to find out what he was about, until he went with a product that wasn't mainstream...I like people like that. I can identify, so I checked him out. See, he has something I need for work. He has it figured out, the business behind the internet. My clients (talent representation) will benefit from how he has things set up on his site, his own TV channel, interviewing people and staying connected with his audience. However, it's just him. There's significant power in numbers. His numbers. These are the statistics I need to sell the big deals for my clients. Thank you, Scobelizer.

Love at First Write

A Webpress Special: A Tale of Two Brands

It Was Love at First Write
The tale of two brands.

Once apon a time, one year shy of the Twothousand Tentury, the strongest brand in the land Tweeted

“Hear Me! Hear Me! Publish thy thoughts as thy please!”

Many, many followers away, @HandieBrand beseeched the tweet, then pondered the plan.

“The summons I shall accept, I will do as I can”

It wasn’t long before the brands met, word to word,
exchanging titles and thoughts unheard.

A News Flash sparked that day,
then the king of brands turned to say...

To you I shall grant, this reply
Handie, you have gained favor in thine headline.

You have typed thine thoughts, and I shift-Command,
You shall reign as the Princess of Brands!

To be continued.........

Web-stitution for Sales

The question sparked my interest while writing the Dead Brands Walking News Flash on Social Median.com - a new addiction that I will likely need professional help with in 2010.

Did your brand die in one of the "Follow-Me-Not" categories and no one in the Twittosphere loves you? Your first reaction may be to return to your corporate dominatrix strategy, imbedded into every plaque on the wall.

Don't Buy It:
Being locked to the laptop or digi-vice could have something to do with it. Meeting and being with live people has significant effects on intellectual development. People give and release energy, needed to strive and survive. The web-stitution for sales, may bring quick cash, but you'll wake up with a marketing nightmare, longterm.

The About Face - An Immediate Solution?
Sporting Events. You go and spend 3x normal price for food? Nod-Head Here. Bring friends, right? Nod Head Here. They are usually drinking, right? Uh-huh... Each one is a demographic, but combined? This triple-play lights the fire - and sparks fly to their friends and overheard in seats A-F.

If you're dead, who will revive you when last nights Tweets are long gone?

Getting Some - Exposure
Picture This: The gorgeous one - genuine, professionally casual greets you with a beautiful smile ready to give you the latest and greatest classy trinket to make your life easier or somehow more fun.

Misguided Brand Ambassador programs have shown significant results especially in travel & leisure, tourism and gaming industries - they're spending and making millions. But, will it ever be done without big boobs or a Fast Slap 500?

Pull Over!
Where are the new products or startup ventures being branded at these events? What could they spend to be delivered to millions of fans with disposable incomes? Would they dare risk the price of a marketing executive?

What web-brand would you like to see in the stands? My pick: Nutshell Mail....simply because the have Nathan the Nut. surrounded by some smart chicks, blogging all the way to the bank.

Is this for REAL?

If not, Apple certainly has the power to change computing habits for the world, by introducing something so abstract people think they MUST HAVE it, whereby the completely alter the norm. Go Apple.
